MAZATLAN
A smaller city on the Pacific coast, across from the Baja Peninsula, is a popular seaside destination for Mexican tourists. Its 21-km Malecon is a great attraction, for walking, cycling or just sitting on one of the seats and admiring the sunset. The historic centre has a beautiful cathedral and surrounding residential streets with remodelled classical buildings, restaurants and theatres. It also features one of the world's highest-located lighthouses, built on a hill to the south of the city. It's a lovely place to spend a few weeks.
